KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT
1. A child is eligible for admission to kindergarten if the child reaches the age of five before the first day of August.
2. Exceptions to rule (exceptions apply only for transfers after school starts, not at the beginning of the school year):
FIRST GRADE ENROLLMENTa. The Kansas City and St Louis School Districts are the only Missouri districts allowed to set a different cut-off date. If a kindergarten student transfers from the Kansas City or St Louis School Districts, student may be enrolled even if they do not meet the August 1 cut-off date.
b. If a student transfers from another state and has been attending kindergarten, they can be enrolled even if they do not meet the August 1 cut-off date.
1. A child is eligible for admission to first grade if the child reaches the age of six before the first day of August.
2. A child who has completed the kindergarten year at any accredited public, private or parochial school shall not be required to meet the age requirements of a district for entrance to grade one.
