    Dear Conn-West Families,

Excellence for All in 2015!  January marks the beginning of a new year, new semester, new experiences and new learning opportunities. We are excited about the months ahead and what we have accomplished thus far.  Formative assessment results indicate that our students are making steady academic progress and we attribute that to a rigorous and relevant curriculum, student-teacher relationships and parental support. In a few short months our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will be taking the MAP (Missouri Assessment Program) and will have an opportunity to demonstrate what they know. More information regarding the MAP test will be provided to parents in February. We have been preparing since the first day of school and we are confident that our students will do their best on the test!

Stay informed and get involved!  Join us at the next Principal’s PIE (Partners in Education) meeting on Thursday, January 8th at 6:00 p.m. This month we will revisit the Conn-West School Improvement Plan (SIP), highlight key instructional initiatives and share our building assessment results for first semester.

Family Math and Science FUN Night will be held on Thursday, January 29th at 6:00 p.m.  We will have 5th grade science fair projects on display, opportunities to explore educational websites and internet resources, “hands-on” activities,  game stations and drawings for books and prizes.  Come out and see how AWESOME math and science can be!

Our Average Daily Attendance for the month of December was 93.0% and we had over 90% of our students in school at least 90% of the time!  We are proud of our students who report to school on time each day Respectful, Responsible, Ready to Learn and Lead!  Stay informed about all things Conn-West by following us on Twitter @CWES_Cougars and viewing the “Pawprint” newsletter. Thank you for being our partners in education, we appreciate the support!

At Conn-West, it is our mission to provide a safe, caring, student-centered environment that fosters citizenship, leadership and academic excellence for all students.  Our building mission and vision are guided by the Grandview C-4 Mission, Values and Collective Commitments.
