GC-4 graduation requirements

Overview
The Board of Education for the Grandview GC-4 School District establishes the following graduation policy and instructs the administration to develop all necessary procedures for proper implementation.
Diplomas
Students will be awarded either a diploma or certificate of attendance in accordance with this policy and as permitted by law.
Graduation Exercises
To participate in graduation exercises, a student must have completed all graduation requirements for the Grandview GC-4 School District.
Class Designations
Beginning with the 2004-2005 school year, students are classified only at the beginning of the school year as follows:
< A student is considered to be a sophomore once six (6) credits have been earned.
< A student is considered to be a junior once 12 credits have been earned.
< A student is considered to be a senior once 20 credits have been earned, or a plan as approved by the principal has been designed to earn a maximum of three (3) credits outside the school day through correspondence or night school to total the 28 credits required for graduation.
Weighted Classes
Due to the difficulty of some courses, grades earned are given more “weight” in determining grade point averages. Those courses where grades are weighted are listed in the program of studies and posted in the counselors’ offices annually.
