September 2014 Principal’s Perspective
Parents, Students and Community Members,
I am very pleased to report that based on the Missouri School Improvement Program, Cycle 5(MSIP 5), Grandview High School ranked among the region’s top high schools with a rating of “Accredited with Distinction.” This is the highest rating possible on the MSIP 5 scale, and accounts for all areas of an effective school, including academic achievement, attendance, advanced placement/dual credit coursework, ACT participation and performance, and persistence towards graduation and college and career readiness. This is the second consecutive year that GHS has been rated “Accredited with Distinction,” and reflects the hard work and commitment to excellence of our school and community.
Our continued growth and success is certainly indicative of the positive communication and teaming that is occurring between students, parents, teachers and community members. We believe that well-rounded students derive from well-rounded school programming. We will always continue to push for academic excellence for all students while balancing their social, emotion and physical needs.
I want to conclude by putting in a good word in for our PTSA, and PTSA president Sherryee Akinmoladun. Ms. Akinmoladun is working very hard to support a vibrant PTSA that encourages positive support for school-based initiatives. PTSA does remarkable things in our school, and is a catalyst for taking our school from “good” to “great.” I urge you to strongly consider joining PTSA. If you have questions about membership please do not hesitate to call us at (816) 316-5800.
Once again congratulations to all GHS students, parents, staff and our community for the second straight year of being rated “Accredited with Distinction!”
