Grandview Middle School Families,
Thank you so much for coming out to Back to School Night! We enjoyed meeting many of you and appreciate your support as well as your feedback on how to make next year’s even better!
We have had an awesome start to the school year! Students have been busy learning their schedules and getting into the swing of things-homework, projects, benchmarks, and tests! They will also soon be learning the new classroom Pod names-Perseverance (100 pod), Optimism (200 pod), Courage (300 pod), Kindness (400 pod), Respect (500 pod), Motivation 600 pod), Determination (700 pod), Responsibility (800 pod), Grit (900 pod), and Service (student service center). Students will be giving suggestions to name the Principal’s office area! Each pod sign has a definition and a picture of and a quote by an influential person.
Who I Am Makes A Difference continues this year! Students are given Who I Am slips for being caught following the Positive Behavior Support Matrix (Respect and Responsibility) and for a multitude of other behaviors from trying harder to master a concept in class, to helping peers, to making good choices. Each Friday, names are drawn and students are recognized. Students will soon be able to use their slips to buy from the PBS store! We post all the slips in the cafeteria, and the Who I Am Makes a Difference board is full already!
Students have completed the fall Performance Series Testing already. This information gives teachers baseline data to inform their instruction throughout the year. These reports will be available in October at Parent Teacher Conferences! Looking forward to an awesome year!
