Letter on Introduction to LINC
We are extremely pleased to announce our partnership with the Local Investment Commission (LINC). This partnership allows us to build upon and expand our existing program. There will be no interruption in service while the change takes place and the hours will remain the same. The current Kids Zone staff at your building will not change. However, new staff will be added as the program grows.
You will be receiving a letter from LINC that details their enrollment procedures and fee schedules. I think you will be delighted at the lower cost of the program.
One thing that will change is our name. The program will be called Caring Communities. I know you are going to enjoy having your children enrolled in the LINC program. It is a wonderful opportunity for the families and children in our district. If you have any questions, please call me. Thank you for the opportunity of working with you and your children.
LINC will provide an experience sited coordinator in each school who will work with the children, families and the neighborhood.
Initial efforts will focus on providing low-cost, affordable child care in all the elementary schools. Enrollment for the school-based child care program will begin later in August. The maximum weekly charge is $15 for a single child and no more than $30 for a family regardless of the number of children. Many children will be able to attend at no charge other than a $25 enrollment fee.
The LINC site coordinators will work in partnership with the school principal, staff, families and the neighborhood so that the school can offer more opportunities, services and met more community and neighborhood needs.
In the Grandview district, 56% of all students qualify for free and reduced lunch as of 2006 school year; up from 41% in 2002.
