Dear Parents:
Our school district would like to announce the Grandview C-4 Summer Explorations 2012 summer school program scheduled for June 4 – June 29, 2012. This year’s program will provide a challenging curriculum including a component of fine arts. Opportunities will be provided to review and apply previously learned skills and knowledge.
Summer Explorations 2012 will be comprised of academic courses with hands-on instruction centered on reading, communication arts, math, social studies, and science. Curriculum options will focus on rigorous academic coursework including credit acquisition, credit recovery, direct instruction for reading statute needs, theme-based classes, band and other fine arts offerings. All courses will focus on Missouri Grade or Course Level Expectations.
Summer Explorations 2012 will be located at Meadowmere Elementary, Martin City School (Grades 6-8 and Band), and Grandview High School. The extended school year for Special Education students will be located at the High Grove Early Childhood Center. There will be space available for approximately 425 students at the elementary school, 250 at the middle school and 325 at the high school.
Enrollment for elementary, middle, and high school students will be held at Grandview High School on March 27 and March 29 from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and on March 28 from 1:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. An additional enrollment date of May 3, 2012 from 2:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. will be provided for high school students.
The elementary and middle school programs will consist of half-day sessions in the morning. The high school program will include a half-day session in the morning and a half-day session in the afternoon. The specific times for each session are the following: elementary school 8:45-12:45; middle school 7:30-11:30; and high school Session I: 7:30 – 11:00 and Session II: 11:30 – 3:00.
Before and after care for Summer Explorations will be provided for elementary and middle school students. Breakfast and lunch will be provided daily at all sites, free of charge.
We hope to see many of you taking advantage of this summer opportunity for your children. Additional information regarding course descriptions and enrollment forms will be sent via U.S. mail on March 9, 2012 for elementary and middle school students. Enrollment forms for high school students will be available at Grandview High School and at the Center for Alternative Instructional Resources on this date as well.
